DreamBox Learning

DreamBox is an adaptive, interactive web site that allows students to learn and practice math at their own level—whether below, on or above grade level.  DreamBox is available to students in all grades.  Unfortunately, the site made changes over the summer and it’s a little confusing to log on at first.

Step 1: Log onto https://play.dreambox.com/login/799a/ayd6 (This is a SPECIAL address, just for PS196Q students.)

When you log on, you will see this new page.  You need to enter your child’s classroom code here (see attachment for class codes).

Step 2:  After you enter your classroom code, you will be at the point where you can enter your user name (OSIS number) and password: DreamBox@196 (same password for all students).

ThinkCentral/GOMath!

This is your web site for practicing what you learned in math class.  It is available to grades K-5.  There are videos that explain the material, practice pages and more.

Step 1: Log on to http://www-k6.thinkcentral.com  You will see the following page. The user name is your child’s OSIS, the password is GoMath196 for all students.  Pay careful attention to how you should fill out the other sections:

Step 2: Once you’re logged in, click on My Library, and all your resources will be there:

ReadingEggs & ReadingEggspress

ReadingEggs and ReadingEggspress help your child with letter recognition, phonics and early reading.  The program is mostly for PK-2 students and our English Language Learners.

Step 1: Log in by going to www.readingeggs.com  Your teacher will give you your child’s individual user name and password.

Step 2: When you log in, click on either ReadingEggs, ReadingEggspress or explore the online library!

For access to CodeMonkey:
The website: playcodemonkey.com
Username: First name, last initial and the last four digits of OSIS number. No spaces, lower case
Password: OSIS number, all 9 digits.

For students in grades K-3 (Families with students in multiple grades, PLEASE NOTE, the access codes are based on grade level)

District 28 Community Education Council - http://www.cecd28.org/

The CEC supports 40 elementary and middle schools located in the heart of Queens. The website is a resource center for the almost 40,000 students and their families who attend and reside in our Community School District.

There are monthly community meetings which are typically held on the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM. Come hear from education decision-makers and learn about policies and programs that are impacting our whole Community School District.  Check out the CEC calendar for upcoming events, meetings, trainings and workshops. We encourage you to be proactive participants in your child's education. Only together can we better serve all students and families in Community School District 28.

CPAC - Chancellor’s Parents’ Advisory Council - https://www.cpacnyc.com/

The Chancellor’s Parent Advisory Council (CPAC) is comprised of the presidents of the 38 Presidents' Councils or their designees. CPAC works as a team to identify concerns, trends, and policy issues and to advise the Chancellor on DOE policies.

PEP - Panel for Educational Policy - https://www.schools.nyc.gov/about-us/leadership/panel-for-education-policy

The Panel for Educational Policy (PEP) consists of 15 appointed members and the Chancellor. Each borough president appoints one member, CEC Presidents elect one member, and the mayor appoints the remaining nine members. The Chancellor serves as an ex-officio non-voting member. The PEP is responsible for electing a chairperson from among the voting members.  This is not a parent-based committee, but the meetings are public so parents may attend if they are interested.
