What a month October was!

We had many firsts in October, our first Family Fitness Funday-Karate, which had a record turnout, our first Restaurant Fundraiser which was our best one yet and we topped October of with our hugely Successful Spooktacular Halloween Party. What an amazing time was had by all!

The Parents Association would like to thank the many volunteers we had throughout the months during many of the events the PA held, especially the Halloween Party. We would not have been able to do it without you, so thank you! Parents like you make a difference, not only in your child’s life but in the lives of all students at P.S. 196.

And now for some fun events to look forward to that will be happening in November…

On Saturday, November 4th, the Wellness Council will host their second Family Fitness Funday of the school year. Bring your family for a wonderful morning of yoga followed by a bagel brunch. If you would like to sign up for Yoga, please click here.

Following the Family Fitness Funday there will be the school’s Book Swap that will take place in the cafeteria. Many children have already dropped off their books for the Book Swap, but if you child has not, they still have the opportunity to bring it in on Saturday, November 4th @ 11:30am. Please click here for more info on the Book Swap.

The Sock Drive will take place from November 2nd-November 8th. If you would like to donate a pair or two of new socks, please send them in with your children and have them drop it off in the bins in the school lobby. These socks will be donated to homeless shelters. Such big and beautiful smiles on the kids as they contribute to this wonderful cause. Support our troops and where your best jeans to school on November 8th along with something Red, White & Blue.

We will have our very first Author visit of the year on November 9th. The Pre-K class will get a visit from Rachelle Burke, author of “Don’t Turn the Page” and “Tooth Fair Trap”. Information will be sent home with all students before the author visit for their grade.

November will also bring our very first fundraiser of the school year. Last year we had a very successful Yankee Candle Fundraiser so this year we decided to change it up a bit and do our very first Smencils Fundraiser. What are Smencils? They are recycled pencils that comes in a tube and smell delicious. Kids love them! More information to follow…

We are also very excited to announce the revival of our Spotlight Magazine. Flyers have gone home with students. Please click here to see how your child’s work can be published in the Spotlight.

Come support the PA once again at Boston Market for our monthly Restaurant Fundraiser on November 30th from 4pm- closing. They do chicken at its best and turkey too. Great timing as Thanksgiving is upon us. Share a meal with your friends and family and give thanks to one another! If you would like more information, please click here.

Please remember to come to our PA meeting on November 21st. We will be discussing what a success October was for the PA as well as all upcoming events.
